Moving to Arizona opened my eyes to a whole new range of vegetation–extremely different from what I had grown up seeing. The prickly thorns stand in stark contrast to the silky skin. This children’s book explores the contrast between wanting to touch a cute little cactus but not being able to.

We all feel sad
When we want something
We can’t have,

Like touching a cactus
So quirky and cute,
But if you go too close
It could tear up your suit!

Confused? Let me explain,
It’s simpler than it sounds,
What if all we could see was
Cacti all around?
